2020 Has Been Quite A Year!

As we welcome 2021

We have been working hard behind the scenes to bring about digital change, developing new ideas in how we build and grow both the BeckettHanlon brand and our company as a whole.

We launched our new podcast “Can You See It?” with 11 published episodes and a lot more in the pipeline!

Our CEO Drew Beckett is in the process of writing a book and we anticipate this to be launching in May 2021.

We rebranded and restructured as a company building our franchise and adding to our extensive list of luxury overseas properties We have been busy building our BeckettHanlon team, including partners & collaborators.

We can’t wait for our next challenge in 2021. Showcasing stunning overseas properties for our clients, offering a borderless franchise opportunity like no other to our partners, and building the BeckettHanlon brand on a global scale.

As we bid farewell to an eventful 2020, we look forward to a prosperous 2021!

“2020 hasn’t quite been the year many of us had planned for, the business community here in Northern Ireland has been impacted massively… including ours! With planes grounded, restrictions in place, and our clients’ unable to travel to sunnier climates to view our lifestyle properties, we have had to quickly adapt as a company.

We have been working hard behind the screens to bring about digital change in how we build both the BeckettHanlon brand and our company as a whole. We launched our new podcast “Can You See It?”, I am also in the process of writing a book and we have equipped ourselves with the tools to enable us to navigate through these uncertain times.

We can’t wait for 2021 and have no doubt we will come back bigger, better, and stronger. Showcasing stunning overseas properties for our clients, offering a borderless franchise opportunity unlike no other to our partners, and building the BeckettHanlon brand on a global scale.

BeckettHanlon meets Hollywood!

It’s been a busy few weeks at BeckettHanlon Worldwide Property. We’ve been working away on a very exciting video which we will be sharing soon! We’ve filmed in some cool locations… always going the extra mile to get a great shot! (Even if it means climbing 14 flights of stairs for a rooftop view…)
Drew and Darran have been the stars of this video, with Lucy behind the camera! A great team effort all around.
In the current climate, selling international property is more tricky. We can’t fly over and visit due to lockdown and travel restrictions. (We are however offering virtual tours). Therefore we have refocused our skills on storytelling how BeckettHanlon was built, and why we do what we do.
We are continuously uploading podcast episodes with some fantastic local and international guests. This week’s episode actually features Darran Wallace, our in house social media expert. Make sure to give that a listen to hear Darran’s story, and how he came to be part of BeckettHanlon.

We Don’t Grow When Things Are Easy, We Grow When We Face Challenges!

Here at BeckettHanlon, we have adjusted our strategies for the time that is now, to try to take advantage of the situation as best as possible. We’ve decided to market our business for the buyer of tomorrow. Right now, we can’t travel (unless you want to spend time in quarantine and risk your health). That’s a huge problem when you’re selling international property… like us. HOWEVER, with many people stuck at home… they’re spending a lot more time scrolling through social media. We’ve made it our mission to be SEEN & HEARD.

In the past 2 weeks, we’ve published new episodes of our Podcast ‘Can You See It – A BeckettHanlon Podcast.’ The most recent episodes feature local Belfast entrepreneur and influencer Chris Suitor, and legendary (award-winning) entrepreneur Brian Reid. The podcast can be viewed on all major listening platforms. The podcast has helped us connect and network with some amazing people, from here (Belfast) and afar.

We launched our brand new Franchise Website…. (The website you’re currently reading this on). And personally, we think it’s pretty great. We’re hoping it can educate potential partners on our journey building BeckettHanlon so far, and how we continue to do so in the current climate.

Our current partners know how much we focus on education. We had a group call last Thursday evening with everyone, to share some recent success stories and to educate on how our current partners could be using social media to their advantage in this time.

We continue to showcase new and exciting properties on our website, offering virtual tour viewings for interested buyers. We truly believe that in a few months time… or however long it may be… that when the airways open again, and it’s safe to travel, many people will be excited to do so. If Covid has taught us anything, it’s that time is precious. We never know what tomorrow brings. We believe a lot of people will be deciding to finally buy that home abroad that they’ve lusted over for many years. And… personally, I’d rather be quarantined in a gorgeous Villa in Spain, than in rainy ole’ Norn’ Iron or wherever you are reading this from.

Dessy Moen talks about his Franchise with BeckettHanlon

What first attracted you to the BeckettHanlon Franchise?

“I always had an interest in overseas properties, especially in Spain, France and Portugal. A love of the Mediterranean climate coupled with this interest in property ignited a desire in me to pursue this further though I wasn’t sure how. This is where Drew Beckett and Becketthanlon came in. I came across Becketthanlon on Facebook, contacted Drew and bought the franchise. I was apprehensive at first as I was aware of the somewhat poor reputation that selling property abroad had attracted, and have built up a strong reputation in the food industry over 30 years I didn’t want to be associated with anything that might diminish this. However, after meeting Drew I was totally assured that here was a man and a company that was selling property abroad right and safe. After a few meetings with Drew, I was in no doubt that I had made the right decision.”

 

Before joining BeckettHanlon, what was your background in?

“As stated above I have spent over 30 years in sales and management in the FMCG industry where my roles have included company owner, Managing Director, Sales Director and Commercial Director. I am still employed in this industry presently.”

 

Talk us through your initial training with the company and what that involved? 

“I have to say that I really enjoyed my initial week’s training with Drew in our Belfast office. I found him hugely knowledgeable in everything concerned with purchasing property overseas. And even though I went along thinking that there would not be much I could learn in the art of selling I was very wrong. Drew has a wealth of experience gained in the financial consultancy business and property sales and I gained a lot from him during this week.”

 

What makes BeckettHanlon Franchise different?

“I believe that Becketthanlon is unique in that everything we do is geared up to assuring that our clients are buying their home abroad SAFELY. This is a keyword and train of thought in our company and one that filters down from Drew himself. Also, we are not just about selling our clients an overseas property. We take them through the whole process of finding the property that best suits them, arranging a mortgage if required, taking them through all the legals involved with buying abroad and accompanying them out to view properties in their desired area.”

 

What are your BH hopes for the future?

“I have often said that is my ambition to eventually be able to dedicate myself fully to my franchise as holding down a very demanding full-time job makes it difficult for me to pursue my dream of been fully committed to it. My hope is for my sales to increase to a level that will make this decision easier. I also want to see Drew been hugely successful with his company as he works tirelessly with us all to achieve his dream also.”

BeckettHanlon Expands Across the Overseas Property Market

A growth in franchise partners has led Belfast based international property company, BeckettHanlon to open a new office space on the Lisburn Road in Belfast.

The office, which is the only one in Northern Ireland in 2020 to specialise in selling international property, has seen an almost 50 per cent growth in franchise partners over the last two years, increasing from five in 2017 to 23 currently.

Under the guidance of CEO, Drew Beckett, who has over 30 years of experience in the international property market, the company’s franchise partners are based across Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and England and have been helping clients to find their dream homes abroad for almost six years.

Although mainly focused on selling properties in Spain and Portugal, BeckettHanlon has sold approximately 70 properties located worldwide including France, New York and Florida since 2013.

Aside from selling property internationally, Drew also trains and educates his own franchise partners ensuring that they are well equipped to help clients buy properties safely abroad.

What’s been happening at BeckettHanlon?

We’d be lying if we said 2020 hadn’t been a hard year. Like many people, we haven’t been able to operate our business as we usually would. However, we’ve created our own opportunities by focusing on elevating the BeckettHanlon online brand presence. It’s so important to not be frozen in fear by current obstacles or events. There is an opportunity in every moment of uncertainty. We launched our own podcast where we’ve been interviewing successful entrepreneurs and individuals. The conversations so far have been eye-opening and inspirational. So far, through sharing my personal stories of failure, success, family and business, I’ve created meaningful online relationships with individuals who could become clients one day in the future. I also recently spoke at an event in Ten Square Hotel Belfast, called ‘Think Inspired.’ This gave me the opportunity to connect with some local legends, and hear their inspirational stories too.

So what’s the point of all of this? Our aim is that we can foster the relationships we already have, and work to create new ones. We can’t travel abroad right now. We have online, virtual viewings of luxury homes abroad, but it’s not quite the same. One day, however, we will be able to travel freely and safely again… and when that day comes, we hope to have built up our online presence, so that when someone is thinking about buying property abroad, we are the first and only company they decide to purchase with.

Visit from our Franchise Partner Fred Manning

We had one of our Franchise partners visit our BeckettHanlon Belfast office during the month of August. Fred is based in Kent and has been part of the company as a Partner for over a year now.

 

Fred spent the day going through his own marketing strategy and engaged with our marketing team to go through some new lead generation ads on his business Facebook and LinkedIn.
